Surveyor
A SIM-Based RF surveying Device Designed Specifically for Investigators
Many other RF surveying devices were designed for use by network engineers and repurposed for use by investigators. Surveyor was designed from scratch to meet the needs of investigators.
Surveyor is filled with innovative features.
Designed from scratch specifically for investigators.

Cellular Labs introduces Survey Plans
You can plan your survey, in as much detail as you wish, before going into the field. Surveyor automatically configures itself according to the requirements of the survey plan. Surveyor supports multiple survey types:
Location Surveys
Test, verify, discover and capture cell availablity at and around a location of interest.Route Surveys
Test, verify, discover and capture cell availability along a travelled route (walking or driving).
Coverage Surveys
Determine the geographic region of coverage for one or more particular cells.
Consistency Survey
When multiple cells are available (usually the case) is there only one that will consistently serve or many? Surveyor is smart enough to answer that question.
Drone Support
Surveyor includes a barometric altimeter and full remote control at any distance, so Surveyor is drone-ready.

Remote Monitoring
Surveyor fully-supports remote monitoring of a survey in progress.

Mapping & Timing Advance
While performing a survey, Surveyor presents, on a map, all cells as they are discovered and verified (or fail to verify) along with detailed cell information (including Timing Advance).

Discover and Verify
RF scanners can discover cells, but they cannot register with any network to verify whether a cell can actually be used. Surveyor discovers cells and attempts to verify each one by registering, transferring data, and recording whether verification succeeds or fails.

Indoor GPS
Many surveying devices can lose GPS location indoors. Surveyor uses the GPS cababilities of its conrolling phone (in addition to its internal GPS) to help provide location information indoors and outdoors.

Band/Cell Locing
Some other SIM-based devices mistakenly (in our view) use band-locking rather than cell-locking. Surveyor can do both, though our users generally choose cell-locking.

Safety
We design for safety. The two important safety concerns are to go unnoticed and to protect users from RF radiation.

Published, Transparent Pricing
Many providers of RF surveying equipment require a custom quote before disclosing prices, consuming time and effort on your part. We're proud of our pricing. We shout it out, so you don't have to ask.
At Cellular Labs, pricing is always clear and transparent: Surveyor costs $7,500 per year, including equipment, connectivity, training, support, hardware upgrades, and software updates.
Based on pricing information available to Cellular Labs, some RF scanners cost $200,000 or more, and some SIM-based surveying equipment costs many times as much as Surveyor. Expect innovation, quality, and value from Cellular Labs.

Interoperability
Cellular Labs is pleased to work with any vendors of software for analyzing and presenting investigative data (e.g. CDRs) to achieve Surveyor integration where technically feasible.
Learn More
Cellular Labs is pleased to introduce a new generation of RF surveying equipment and techniques. With the 2026 introduction of Surveyor, we believe SIM-based RF surveying equipment is now smart enough, fast enough, easy enough to use, and affordable enough to be attractive to modern investigators.
